![]() This was the first time I had ever backed up the MP onto the Time Capsule so I have no way of knowing if this would have happened under Mavericks or prior systems. A few days later, I enabled Time Machine and selected the ATC disk as the Backup location. ![]() I recently installed El Capitan and it seemed to be working fine. What happened: The MP has been on Ethernet for years without incident. It connects via Wifi to => 3 iPhones, 5 iPads, 2 IP Cameras, 3 Macs, 1 airport express used as network extender and who knows what other mobile devices we have. ATV Ethernet connects to => Gigabit Ethernet Switch, 2 AppleTVs, 4 network cameras, DirecTV box, BluRay Player, MacPro, 4 Airport Express used as network extender and probably something else I'm forgetting at the moment. None of the other devices have been affected by this issue. However, it is connected directly to the MP via a hardwire run from the media cabinet to my office. It also connects to a myriad other devices via both wifi and ethernet, including an Ethernet switch. Not sure what modem it is (it is on the roof so hard to obtain).Ĭonnections from Router: The ATC is connected directly via ethernet to the Mac Pro. It connects to a little dish on the roof that receives the provider's signal. ![]() It connects to the internet via an ethernet cable to a WiMax box provided by my line-of-site broadband provider. Main Router: The main router in the house it the ATC (3TB disk). I meant to say my router was an Airport Time Capsule (I thought it had "extreme" in the name, but was mistaken). I know this because I have cameras with time logs and the cameras all went down approximately 60 seconds before the TM backup was listed as completed in the TM dialogue.ĭoes anyone have any idea what this all about and what I can do to rectify it? Upon investigation, it appears that the offline event coincided with the completion of a Time Machine backup. Right when I started to do these TM backups, I started noticing the Mac Pro completely disconnecting from the network and staying off. When I installed El Capitan finally, I hadn't gotten Drobo up and running yet and so I decided to do TM backups to my existing router, the Airport Extreme with 3TB Time Capsule via the Ethernet connection (Cat6). I've been backing up my Mac Pro for years to a local drive (Drobo). In 7 years, have not had a problem with the Ethernet connection. ![]() The MacPro is connected via ETHERNET to Airport Extreme Time Capsule (3TB) (in house wiring).
